Clanwilliam hosts “Spotlight on Tourism” event

On 20 June 2024, Clanwilliam hosted the highly anticipated “Spotlight on Tourism” event. Organised by Clanwilliam Tourism, the event gathered influential leaders and stakeholders to ignite inspiration and strategic planning for the future of tourism in the region.

The event, held at Reinholds Restaurant, featured an esteemed panel of industry experts and leaders, including Alderman James Vos, Enver Duminy, Lee-Anne Singer, and Cobus du Plessis. Each panellist brought unique insights and experiences to the table, contributing to a robust dialogue on enhancing tourism offerings, sustainability practices, and community engagement initiatives within Clanwilliam and its surrounding areas.

“We had the privilege to listen to speakers who know their subject like few others and also know the region we call home,” said Pieter du Toit, Vice Chairperson of Clanwilliam Tourism, “The silence of the room explained how hungry this audience was for knowledge and to learn from those who have walked the path so successfully.”

The panellists addressed key challenges and opportunities facing Clanwilliam’s tourism sector, emphasising collaboration between public and private sectors, innovation in marketing strategies, and the importance of preserving the region’s natural beauty and heritage.

“After the success of the first event, our committee is excited for future events in our “Spotlight on Tourism” series, with the goal of gathering stakeholders and industry professionals as we continue to develop a unified vision for our future,” added Zara Lochner of Clanwilliam Tourism. “Through meaningful discussions and collaborations, we’re confident in our ability to position Clanwilliam as a well-known and well-loved destination that offers authentic experiences to our visitors.”

The event concluded with a renewed sense of purpose and commitment amongst attendees to continue working together towards a thriving and sustainable tourism industry in Clanwilliam.
