International Tourism Key Findings April 2024

In April 2024, 2 452 795 travellers (arrivals, departures, and transits) passed through South Africa’s ports of entry/exit. They comprised 667 428 South African residents and 1 785 367 foreign travellers.

Foreign arrivals, 934 880 comprised 27 413 non-visitors and 907 467 visitors.

The visitors consisted of 205 446 same-day visitors and 702 021 overnight visitors (tourists).

The breakdown of the tourists by region is as follows 160 708 from overseas; 526 685 from SADC countries; 13 703 from ‘other’ African countries and the country of residence of 925 tourists were classified as unspecified.
