Western Cape Provincial Occupations in High Demand Survey conducted by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET)

The Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) has concluded its survey on high-demand occupations in the Western Cape Province, marking a significant departure as it adopts a Provincial demand-led approach for the first time.

The survey, conducted under the Labour Market Intelligence (LMI) Research Programme, has garnered participation from both public and private stakeholders in the province. Expressing gratitude for their involvement, the DHET hopes that the inputs provided by these stakeholders have been duly considered in the draft report.

The DHET extends an invitation to all external stakeholders, both from the public and private sectors, to share their comments and questions directly with Mamphokhu Khuluvhe, the lead at DHET, via email at Khuluvhe.M@dhet.gov.za.

While plans are underway to organize a virtual session in the coming weeks for stakeholders to engage with the DHET and receive a detailed presentation on the approach and outline, the DHET urges stakeholders to submit their comments and queries offline urgently, as they are in the final stages of the process.

To streamline the process and ensure a timely response, stakeholders are encouraged to share the survey and their inputs with their public and private sector partners. The DHET stresses the importance of reviewing and submitting inputs at the earliest.
