Treasury Shifts Cost Containment Approach for Travel and Conferences

Effective 1st April 2025, the National Treasury will discontinue publishing standardised rates for accommodation, conferences, and food. Government departments will now have the autonomy to determine their own rates. The existing Annexure remains applicable until 31st March 2025. The recently issued Revised Cost Containment Instructions No. 1 and 1A of 2024/2025 formalise this administrative change.
