POPI: Less than two weeks to go – what you need to know

With an inundation of information from all angles regarding the Protection of Personal Information (POPI) Act, and the commencement date quickly approaching, businesses could be forgiven for feeling more than a little overwhelmed.

The POPI Act, is five years in the making, and threatens harsh fines of up to R10-million for non-compliance, and in extreme cases, even jail time. Complying with the Act is time-consuming and often contains a minefield of information to process and understand.
