The CGCSA in partnership with the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (DTIC), the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE), has since 2019 been working on the Food and Packaging Waste Prevention and Reduction Initiative. This landmark initiative culminated in the launch of the South African Food Loss and Waste Voluntary Agreement on 29 September 2020.
