Art & Hospitality in Perfect Harmony: FEDHASA Cape Partners with Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra

POCO A POCO

[poh-koh ah poh-koh]

Adverb, Music – gradually; little by little

The term “poco a poco” embodies the idea that small contributions can lead to significant impacts.

Cape Town, renowned for its world-class hospitality industry and vibrant arts scene, is set to embrace this philosophy through a new partnership between the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra (CPO), FEDHASA Cape, the SA Chefs Association, and The Restaurant Collective. This collaboration aims to enhance awareness of the CPO’s mission while simultaneously spotlighting the local hospitality industry, establishing Cape Town as an international cultural capital where the arts and hospitality thrive together.

As part of this initiative, the CPO and FEDHASA invite hotel, restaurant, and bar owners to feature a specially crafted cocktail on their menus. Named “The Philharmonic,” this cocktail offers patrons an opportunity to sip, savour, and support the arts in Cape Town.

Introducing “The Philharmonic” Cocktail

More than just a beverage, The Philharmonic is a refreshing way to make a difference. The cocktail combines premium brandy, vanilla syrup, pineapple juice, lemon juice, and MCC, elegantly served in a champagne flute. Participating establishments will receive a decorative rim tag from the CPO, featuring a QR code and the CPO logo, making it easy for patrons to support the orchestra while enjoying their drink. Each sip of The Philharmonic cocktail represents a small step—“poco a poco”—towards supporting the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra. To witness the impact of your support, watch this video.

Benefits for the Hospitality Industry

As a Poco a Poco partner, your establishment will benefit from promotion across the CPO’s platforms, including its newsletter (reaching a database of 14,000), website, and social media channels (with 25,000 Facebook followers and 8,000 on Instagram). The CPO will actively encourage concertgoers and supporters to seek out The Philharmonic cocktail at participating restaurants and bars, driving traffic to your venue.

Launch Event

The Philharmonic cocktail will make its debut at a special concert of film music at Artscape on 27 November. Establishments that commit to adding The Philharmonic to their menu will receive two complimentary tickets by contacting louise@cpo.org.za. Tickets are also available for purchase on Webtickets.

Invitation to Concerts

FEDHASA members who attended the AGM are invited to contact marketing executive Shirley Gueller at shirley@cpo.org.za to enjoy a complimentary concert experience. General managers and concierges are also encouraged to reach out to learn more about the CPO’s musical offerings, particularly as we approach the Summer Festival in January, which promises to be a highlight for tourists.
