International Tourism Key Findings March 2024

In March 2024, 2 710 991 travellers (arrivals, departures, and transits) passed through South Africa’s ports of entry/exit. They comprised 776 848 South African residents and 1 934 143 foreign travellers. Foreign arrivals, 995 770 comprised 26 485 non-visitors and 969 285 visitors. The visitors consisted of 218 317 same-day visitors and 750 968 overnight visitors (tourists). The breakdown of the tourists by region is as follows 216 563 from overseas; 520 175 from SADC countries; 13 123 from ‘other’ African countries and the country of residence of 1 107 tourists were classified as unspecified.
