KZN Tourism and Audio-Visual Agency Bill 2023 is open for public comment

The KZN MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs has published the “KwaZulu-Natal Tourism and Audio-Visual Agency Bill 2023” for public comment.

The Bill provides for the closure of both the KZN Film Commission and the KwaZulu-Natal Tourism Authority and repeals both the KZN Film Commission Act 2010 and the KZN Tourism Act 1996. In addition, the Bill provides for the transfer of various existing powers, functions, and duties of both the Film Commission and the Tourism Authority to the proposed KwaZulu-Natal Tourism and Audio-Visual Agency.

The Bill further provides for the governance, management, and administration of the Agency with a view to regulating the tourism sector and the audio-visual industry in the Province. The Bill, once enacted, will in all probability be the forerunner to additional tourism statutes and policy publications and amendments.
