Upcoming meetings and consultation: Revised Regulations for Government Waterworks for recreational use

The Department of Water and Sanitation is currently in the process of arranging public meetings to discuss the updated Regulations on Access and Use of Government Waterworks for recreational purposes.

Scheduled Meetings:
Meetings have been scheduled as follows:

  1. Vaal Marina Town Hall: 15 August 2023
  2. Warrenton: 29 August 2023
  3. Upington: 30 August 2023

Additional Stakeholder Meetings:
The Department is also planning to host meetings in other provinces in the upcoming weeks. The specific venues are being finalised, and FEDHASA members are encouraged to participate. Should you wish to attend a session in a province of your choice, you are welcome to do so. In the Northern Cape, sessions are proposed as follows:

  • Jan Kempdorp: 29 August at the Vaalharts Water User Association facilities
  • Upington: 30 August at the Department of Water and Sanitation Offices

Submitting Written Comments:
For stakeholders unable to attend in person, we invite you to submit written comments on the revised Regulations to malulekej2@dws.gov.za and nhlabathis@dws.gov.za. We emphasize that written comments are encouraged and preferred, even for those attending physical sessions. All comments will be carefully considered, evaluated, and potentially incorporated. A response register will be generated.
