Proposed laws to shape KwaZulu-Natal’s Hospitality and Tourism Sectors

The KwaZulu-Natal Legislature has published the following bills for public comment:

KwaZulu-Natal Economic Regulatory Authority Bill 2023

•     Provides for closure of KZN Gaming/Betting Board & Liquor Authority

•     Transfers their powers to a new KZN Economic Regulatory Authority

•     New authority would govern gaming, betting, horse racing & liquor

Tourism and Audio-Visual Agency Bill 2023

•     Establishes a new provincial Tourism and Audio-Visual Agency

•     Aims to promote growth in tourism and audio-visual sectors

•     Will implement policy, regulation and development initiatives

•     Intends to position KZN as premier tourism & filmmaking destination
