Industry must please comment … – Damaging to Tourism

The Department of Basic Education has published a draft 2024 school calendar for comment.

What is of concern is that they have reverted back to a single calendar for all provinces rather than the Inland/Coastal split calendar as, for example, published for 2023.

They have provided a calendar month for comment commencing 18th March 2022.

FEDHASA will forward comment on the negative ramifications of this proposal for our industry.   As well as all the other collateral ramifications like the roads being excessively busy / safety hazard etc.

We hope many in our industry send individual responses to the Dpt to emphasise above.  Now is the time for Gov departments to assist our sector at every opportunity – to make up for the past two years of devastating industry hardship.

Comments must be addressed to the Director-General for Department of Basic Education, for the attention of Mr S Mlambo, e-mail: Mlambo.S@dbe.gov.za; cc Manaka.L@dbe.gov.za
