Have you appointed and registered a manager in terms of the Provincial Liquor Act?

Are you aware of all the additional requirements, over and above renewing your liquor licence annually, that are set out in all provincial liquor statutes and that may apply to you, depending on your specific circumstances?

For example, if a licence has been issued in your name and you have appointed a manager to run your business, you will have to ensure that the applicable Liquor Board/Authority is informed of the appointment and that the manager is registered as required by the applicable Provincial Liquor Act and Regulations. As liquor legislation differs from province to province, you will need to contact the relevant Liquor Board/Authority in your province (to ensure that your manager is correctly registered) in order to establish how to register a manager.

Gauteng Province is excluded as the Gauteng Liquor Board has provided an online facility enabling you to process a number of requirements including the registration of a manager. In addition, a “how to guide” is available (see section 12 – “appoint a manager”) which can be downloaded here. In order to utilise this facility you will need to register online by clicking here.  Section 12 of the online facility deals with “appoint a manager” and the various documents required for registration.
