Department of Tourism seeks input on new Tourism Sector Professionalisation Strategy

South Africa’s Department of Tourism is currently in the process of developing a comprehensive new Tourism Sector Professionalisation Strategy for the country. In May, the Department, in collaboration with development economists Urban-Econ, engaged with industry stakeholders to gather their inputs for the strategy’s development.

These engagements took the form of five online meetings, each focusing on a specific tourism sub-sector: Governance, Accommodation, Travel and Related Services, Hospitality, and Education and Training.

Following these discussions, the Department, along with Urban-Econ, has compiled the Draft Environment Scan for the Tourism Sector Professionalisation Strategy, which can be viewed at the following here.

This draft strategy will serve as the foundation for the next phase of the Tourism Sector Professionalisation development. FEDHASA members are invited to provide their feedback on the draft strategy no later than 7th July 2023. To submit your comments to info@fedhasa.co.za
