Very interesting update by the Dept of Health on the Vaccination Programme. Employee Covid-19 Vaccination Policy – at reduced rate for FEDHASA members.

While the National COVID-19 Vaccination Programme has performed well, the outlook for getting jabs in arms seems to trend toward a downward spiral.

At a National Tourism Stakeholder (NTSF) meeting held on 8 September 2021, it was highlighted that there is going to be a significant slow-down in the take up of vaccines going forward and that the youth are less enthusiastic about taking them up.

Many of the youth believe it unnecessary at their age, they have safety concerns and many others are waiting for their peers to be vaccinated to see what the ultimate effect of vaccination may be.

Another area for concern is that vaccinations among the 60+ population and 50-59 age groups are
rapidly declining and that too few men and uninsured individuals are being vaccinated.

Communication appears to be key in moving the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme forward and something that Solidarity Fund has taken the first steps to implement. The Fund is currently financing a communications strategy to encourage all to be vaccinated and it will be launched shortly.

Alternative solutions for companies also include the investment in a vaccination policy. On request, Integrated Labour Solutions (ILS) offer their clients a COVID-19 Vaccination Policy. Retainer clients get this at a preferential price.

The policy pack includes the following:

  1. A  telephonic consultation to assess the Employer’s need and circumstances, as well as a brief explanation of the policy context.
  2. A short explanatory commentary re the Policy.
  3. A customised Vaccination Policy   –  (aligned  with the “Consolidated  Direction  on  Occupational Health and  Safety Measures in Certain  Workplaces” and the Occupational Health and Safety Act – Act  85 of 1993 – as  amended).
  4. A  Vaccination Policy Flow Chart.

According to Leon Traut from ILS Employers who can forward them proof of their membership of FEDHASA will be able to obtain this from ILS with a 10% reduction from their non-retainer rate.

The cost for the above would be R 1750 (excl VAT).
