Emile van der Merwe joins the City Lodge Hotels Executive Committee (Exco) as Divisional Director: Property and Development, effective from 1 August 2023. Emile, who has been with the company since August 2008, previously served as the Property Investment Manager. In his new role, he will continue to focus on green and brownfield hotel opportunities, hotel refurbishments, procurement, property-related legal matters, large-scale maintenance, and stakeholder relationships. |
Edwin Louw has been appointed as Group Revenue Manager, commencing on 11 September2023. Edwin brings over 20 years of senior management experience in the commercial finance industry, having previously worked at Deloitte Consulting and various other esteemed institutions. |
Riaan Loots is now the General Manager of Road Lodge Bloemfontein Airport. Riaan began his journey with City Lodge Hotels in 2009 as a night auditor and has since held various positions within the company. |
Johan Prinsloo takes the helm as General Manager of Road Lodge Cape Town International Airport, transitioning from his previous role as the General Manager of Road Lodge Mbombela. His tenure at City Lodge Hotels spans several positions since 2008. |
Jannie Kotze, currently the General Manager of Town Lodge Polokwane, will assume the role of General Manager at Road Lodge Mbombela, effective from 1 October 2023. Jannie’s history with City Lodge Hotels dates back to 2002, and he has held various managerial positions within the company. |
In another development, City Lodge Hotels announced on 11 September2023 that Stuart Morris, a distinguished member of the board for 17 years, has chosen to retire from the board. Stuart held the position of Chairman of the Audit Committee and was a member of the Remuneration, Nominations, and Risk Committees. His retirement will be effective after the annual general meeting on 23 November 2023. The board has decided not to fill the vacancy left by Stuart’s retirement. JOHANNESBURG, 11 OCTOBER 2024 – The Federated Hospitality Association of Southern Africa (FEDHASA) welcomes the South African government’s progressive visa reforms, which promise significant benefits for the hospitality industry. The introduction of the Remote Work Visitor Visa and the new Points-Based System for Work Visas, gazetted on 09 October 2024,
